Anchors Bounce Back in Cup

Stockton got straight back to winning ways when they visited North Shields with a depleted squad and progressed to the quarter finals with a last minute goal despite an indifferent start to the match. Stockton looked like they were a bunch of strangers as North Shields dominated the opening period and took the lead after 10 minutes through MASON, Shields missed two more great chances soon after that. Stockton hung in and somehow kept Shields at Bay for the remainder of the half.

Stockton re-organised and gained a little momentum they were a lot better second half as they pressed for the equaliser which came on 57mins when Max Craggs shot with his left foot from 25 yards, Jamie OWENS cleaned up the rebound from keeper McCafferty. With the match heading towards penalties Stockton snatched the win when skipper Adam NICHOLSON met a 90th min Craggs corner kick and headed it downwards powerfully McCafferty got a hand to it but could only push it into the roof of the net to herald celebrations for the hardy but frozen stiff away supporters. A great response to not only a disappointing result on Saturday but an opening period which could have gone terribly wrong. Resilience and determination in spades
