Anchors beaten in the mud…

Stockton took the long trip to Morpeth, again with a depleted squad and the League Champions elect took the points, although the Anchors made them work for it on a terribly heavy surface. Anchors could have took the lead in the opening minutes and enjoyed the better of the play but as Morpeth settled, TAYLOR put them ahead on 24 mins. Morpeth were stronger at the start of the second half and DAVISON doubled their lead on 58minutes. Max CRAGGS halved the defecit with a thumping header on 65 mins and the Anchors looked like they could get back into the game but the hosts quality came through and COPPEN made it 3-1 on 74 and they finished the game strongly. No complaints about the result against a top side, Stockton showed that they’re capable of mixing it but they just couldn’t resist the talented team up against them, even on a bog of a pitch which belies Morpeth’s status tbh.
