Anchors Appoint New Head of Media

Stockton Town are delighted to announce that Andrew McDonnell has agreed to join the Club as Head of Media

Andrew brings with him an impressive background working in North East non-league football and his reputation continues to grow in journalistic circles and only recently he has been reporting and interviewing around Premier League games including at Manchester United, Everton and Sheffield United.

The 25-year-old graduated from the University of Sunderland with a first-class honours degree in Sports Journalism and has over six years working in Social Media in the industry.

Andrew’s background makes for impressive reading. He has previously worked with Morpeth Town, Whickham and Blyth AFC amongst others and also had work published for Plymouth Argyle during the 2018-19 season.

The newly-appointed Head of Media was also present at Wembley Stadium covering the FA Vase Final between Stockton Town and Thatcham Town in 2018.

Club Chairman Martin Hillerby commenting on the appointment. “We have always prided ourselves on the quality of our social media and engagement with our supporters, it has become apparent to us that if we want to continue to grow we needed to bring a more professional approach to our website and social media in terms of content, quality and consistency. We want to continue to work hard to be the amongst the best not only on the pitch but off it as well and I believe Andrew’s appointment will help us achieve that.”

Speaking after joining the Club, Andrew had this to say, “I’m delighted to have joined Stockton Town, a club with huge ambition and an exciting future. It’s always been a club I’ve kept an eye on since the remarkable FA Vase run during the 2017-18 season and I’m really excited to see what the team can achieve going forward.

“After several conversations with key personnel at the club, and showing their desire to bring me on board, my mind was made up straight away that I wanted a fresh challenge and join a club that matches exactly what I want to achieve in the industry.”

“Having been at the helm of media teams for the last six years, I’ve got every confidence that we can be up there with the very best around. I’m looking forward to working with the media team, driving forward our media output and delivering engaging content for our supporters.”
