Stockton Town Ladies came from behind to earn an impressive win at previously unbeaten Boldon.
Boldon led inside ten minutes when Connie Raine scored from a corner.
But the Anchoresses went into halftime in the lead as Talia Korucu struck twice. First she profited from a goalkeeping error, and then stretched the defence before rounding the goalkeeper and tucking in.
Boldon pulled level in the second half when a decisive break ended with Lola Rose Edmonds applying the finishing touch.
Boldon were level for less than ten minutes when substitute Lily-Ann Thwaite marked her debut with a goal. Anna Murphy had the vision to pick out Thwaite who darted in on goal and finished well.
Stockton secured the win when Demi-Leigh Tapping picked out Korucu and she showed her typical sharp eye in front of goal to rifle home and complete her hattrick.
Reflecting on the win, Manager Chris Murphy said: “I thought it was a good game between two good footballing sides.
“We did make life difficult for ourselves with some poor decision making in and out of possesion, Boldon played with an intense press which we struggled with at first. Once we made some tactical changes we got hold of the game and scored at crucial times.
“Second half we were much better, however Boldon did look dangerous on the break and got an equaliser. However the girls dug in and hit straight back then got the fourth which settled us down well.
“Another top performance from Talia (Korucu) playing through the pain to score a hattrick and a great goal scoring debut from Lily (Thwaite)”
Next up for the Anchoresses is a home game against Hartlepool Pools Youth. More details on the fixture will be released closer to Sunday.
