Stockton visited Newton Aycliffe tonight with only 1 place and 2 points separating the teams a close game was expected and it was a superb volleyed finish from 20 yards by Jamie Owens which put the Anchors back on the winning trail in a tough encounter. Stockton were frustrated at times in tonights game and should probably have won more comfortably. Aycliffe were competitive and had a couple of opportunities to steal a point but that would have been harsh on the Anchors. Stockton had much the better of the first half and had several chances, Jamie Poole heading straight at the keeper and then saw another effort come back off the bar, Aycliffes James Oliver made a brilliant last ditch tackle on Owens as he was about to shoot when clear through. Second half saw Newton Aycliffe play a more open game and although Jordan dealt with everything efficiently the only scare came when they hit the post from a rebound. Sonni Coleman crashed a 25yd strike against the underside of  the bar on the hour mark and then on 72mins Stockton took the lead through Owens. Aycliffe upped the tempo to find an equaliser but Stocktons defence marshalled by skipper Coulthard and with the excellent Carter at right back did enough to deservedly take the spoils.
