MATCH REPORT | Lancaster City 1-0 Stockton Town

Stockton Town conceded an early second half goal to slip to defeat at Lancaster City.

Dom Lawson’s bundled effort from a set piece was enough to keep the points in Lancashire.

Michael Dunwell named two changes to his Starting XI. Aaron Brown returned at right-back and Owen Gallacher was given the start on the left wing.

Lancaster City started the game the stronger with the first effort when the dangerous Steven Yawson dragged a strike wide from the edge of the area.

For Stockton, Jake Petitjean sent in a testing delivery but Adam Nicholson could only head wide.

Towards the end of the half, Yawson had another strike which went just wide.

Half-Time: Lancaster City 0-0 Stockton Town

Five minutes into the second half, the Dolly Blues had the lead when Sam Bailey clipped in a freekick, it was headed across by Joe Amison and bundled in on the line by Lawson.

Lancaster went close to doubling their lead when James Bailey broke forward before his strike hit the post.

Stockton had a big appeal for a penalty when Gallacher burst through and went down after a challenge from goalkeeper Brad Kelly who had come charging out.

Michael Dunwell then turned to the bench and sent on Paul Rooney, Harley Dawson and Stephen Thompson

Stockton pressed for an equaliser. Thompson drove into the box and found Scott but the latter was unable to get a strike on goal.

The Lancaster defence remained resilient throughout the barrage, and the home side still remained a threat on the break which had to be dealt with a save from Harker and sliding challenge from Thompson.

The biggest chance for Stockton to find the leveller came in stoppage time when Rooney was put through on goal but he was thwarted by Kelly.
