Stockton Town return to league action to face Warrington Rylands.
The Anchors suffered a disappointing defeat in midweek in their FA Cup replay at Guiseley, falling to a 2-1 defeat in Yorkshire.
Second-half goals from Kallan Murphy and Amir Berchil meant Adam Nicholson’s stoppage time header was nothing but a consolation for the Anchors.
Stockton are still looking for their first points on the road this season, but will use the positive memories from this ground last season as motivation ahead of the visit.
Jake Petitjean and Kevin Hayes were on target on the final day of last season, where Stockton clinched the final playoff position in the NPL with a 2-1 win.
Rylands very nearly won promotion to the National League North in those playoffs, but were stopped by a late, late goal from Hednesford Town, eventually falling on penalties in the final.
This season, they’ve started slowly for their impressive standards, finding themselves in 11th place, with as many wins as defeats.
Harrison Wood leads the team in goals, with three to his name. Whilst the ever-threatening Ben Hardcastle and George Waring also have found the target this season.
Neil Reynolds’ side are on a three-game winning run after a victory over Hyde United in the FA Cup last weekend, where they were rewarded with a home tie against National League North side Chorley.
Looking ahead to the tie, Assistant Manager JD Briggs spoke after Tuesday’s defeat at Guiseley, stating: “These upcoming games have become a lot more important as we look to get some points on the board as quickly as we can.”
