Stockton Town’s U18 side begun their FA Youth Cup campaign in emphatic fashion once again, beating Kendal Town 7-1.
One year on from an 8-1 victory over the same team in the same round, Paddy Davis has a new-look squad for this season, with Max Naylor the only similarity in the starting squads from the two meetings.
The home side got off to a perfect start, capitalising on a defensive error to take the lead within the opening two minutes.
But after that, Kendal didn’t really get a look at goal, as Stockton took full control, finding a deserved equaliser when Liam Bramley pounced on a weak back-pass and slotted first-time under the goalkeeper.
Just a minute later, Stockton were ahead through a moment of magic when Xander Hunt got the better of three defenders before powering home.
Hunt turned provider for Stockton’s third when his cross was bundled home by Callum Young.
Stockton had a fourth before the break when Max Naylor beat his defender to bare down on goal, but unselfishly squared the ball to Jay Talbot who had the easy job of tapping home.
Not long after the break, Jayden Pinnegar’s fake shot inside the box cleared his man before finishing into the bottom corner.
Pinnegar was in the right place inside the area to bundle home another Max Naylor cross, adding Stockton’s sixth of the evening.
Naylor’s final contribution of the evening came with another sublime cross from the right, allowing substitute Will French an easy finish at the back post.
The Young Anchors will now await their opponent in the First Qualifying Round of the competition, and updates will be posted on the Club’s social media platforms as it happens.
