Stockton Town are still looking for their first points of the season when Leek Town come to visit.
Similarly to the Anchors, Leek are still looking for their first win of the campaign, falling agonisingly short on Tuesday when FC United of Manchester found a late equaliser at Broadhurst Park, cancelling out Connor Heath’s first-half goal.
Stockton fell to a second-straight defeat midweek when Ashton United took home all three points after Kurt Willoughby’s goal early in the second 45.
Reviewing the result on Anchors TV, manager Michael Dunwell stated “we are creating chances, getting balls into the right area, players are in the right area and the quality and decision making has to be better, and we have to be more composed.”
On a positive note, Tuesday saw the returns of both Frank Nouble and Stephen Thompson, with both forwards looking strong in their short cameos.
The visitors are making the long trip up to Teesside with a similar batch of players to the lot who beat the Anchors in TS19 last December, with stars Alex Hurst and the before-mentioned Connor Heath still playing important roles for Josh Brehaut’s side.
Experienced goalkeeper Dino Visser still captains the side, and will again be a difficult to get past following his clean sheet in the sides’ most recent meeting in Staffordshire.
Previewing the matchup, and explaining the struggles thus far, Dunwell noted: “We know we’re not far away, but the issue is when teams get a chance at the minute they’re punishing us and we’re not doing enough. There’s not much we’re doing wrong, so we’ll remain confident.”
