Stockton Town reach the halfway point of their league campaign when they welcome Whitby Town to the MAP Group UK Stadium.

The Anchors enjoyed cup success at Dunston in midweek thanks to Adam Nicholson’s long range stunner.

In the league they sit just outside the Play-Offs and will be hoping to bounce back at home after losing to Leek Town in their last home outing.

Striker Josh Scott will be welcomed back into the fold after missing the Dunston match. Josh Baggs, Vinnie Steels and Jaedon Faulkner all remain out.

THE OPPOSITION

Whitby Town are in their 28th consecutive season in the NPL Premier Division having gained promotion to the level back in 1998.

This season the Seasiders are eyeing to mount a Play-Off challenge after a number of bottom half finishes. Presently they are four points behind Stockton in 9th.

They have been out of action since their 3-0 defeat to Leek Town on November 22nd after their scheduled home game against Ilkeston Town last Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Last time on their travels they picked up a highly impressive 1-0 win at then league leaders Warrington Rylands.

Anchors will recognise striker Matty Tymon who spent the 2022/23 season at the MAP Group UK Stadium.

Former Marske winger Donald Chimalilio is another to look forward, as is forward Layton Watts.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES

Looking ahead to the game, Michael Dunwell said:

“Another big test to come and a bit of a derby match. They have improved a lot and sit just behind us in the league.

“We gave a good account of ourselves at their place earlier in the season and should have got more than a point. If we put the same quality and energy in this time like we did there we should come out with a positive result.”

Captain Adam Nicholson added, by saying:

“It’s another big game. They are coming thick and fast, we just need to get together and regroup.

“We had a difficult game away at Whitby where we created enough chances to win the game, which will give us confidence. They have improved since, and like I say every game in this league is tough”
