LIVE COMMENTARY: Anchors Radio (mixlr.com)

Following a two-week absence, Stockton Town are back in action with a trip to Lancaster City.

The Anchors have been without a game since their 2-0 defeat at Warrington Town due to Leek Town’s involvement in the FA Trophy and Tuesday night’s postponement at FC United of Manchester.

Michael Dunwell will welcome back Captain Adam Nicholson who returns from his suspension. Full-back Ryan Barrett, who has been loaned from Alfreton Town, is poised to make his debut.

Josh Baggs is out, while Glen Butterworth remains a long-term absentee.

THE OPPOSITION

Lancaster City finished last season one place above the relegation zone, but this season they were the league’s early pacesetters- top-of-the-table through the early months of the campaign.

Although they have fallen to 4th, it has still been an impressive start for the Dolly Blues under hometown manager Jimmy Marshall. The former Kendal boss took charge at the end of last season and steered them to safety before overseeing a confident start to the current season.

The Giant Axe continues to be a difficult place to go to with just one defeat this season, which came in their home opener against FC United of Manchester. Their last three league home games have seen them record three-straight goalless draws.

Forward Steven Yawson is one to watch, since he was reunited with Jimmy Marshall he has taken the step up from Kendal seamlessly.

Nic Evangelinos, who scored an impressive winner in Stockton’s last visit to the Giant Axe, continues to be one of Lancaster’s main men.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES

Looking ahead to the game, Michael Dunwell said:

“We haven’t played for two weeks but it’s given us a chance to work on mistakes we have been making and also to work on what we have been good at too.

“We are looking forward to the game. Lancaster have had an indifferent spell after a great start to the season, very similar form to ours. Both teams will be looking for maximum points to keep in touch with the Play-Offs.
