Stockton Town look to bounce back from a heavy defeat on Saturday with a cup clash with league-rivals Hebburn Town.

The Anchors will quickly want to move on from the weekend’s result, where Ilkeston Town came to Teesside and took home all three points after a 4-0 win.

Adam Nicholson was also shown a straight red card for a last man challenge.

Saturday did see Lewis King return to action in the second-half after a couple of weeks out with a knock.

THE OPPOSITION

Hebburn are of course long-time foes of the Anchors, having being promoted alongside the Anchors in the Northern League in 2021, and the NPL East Division in 2024, where the Hornets went on a 13-game winning run to secure the title ahead of Stockton.

Despite losing club captain and star talisman Amar Purewal to the Anchors in summer, replacement forward Gary Martin has hit the ground running thus far, nearly hitting double figures in goals already.

The 35-year-old is vastly experienced, having played professionally in Iceland, Hungary and Norway to name a handful.

Daniel Moore’s side come into this game after an 8-0, (yes, eight) win over Warrington Town on Saturday, where winger Olly Martin scored a hat-trick off the bench.

Veteran midfielder Robert Briggs also recently joined the Hornets, after departing South Shields following 10 years with the Mariners.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The two sides have met 16 times throughout the near decade of challenging each other up the divisions, as well meeting in the FA Trophy, FA Vase and Durham Challenge Cup previously too. Below are the results from the 5 prior results between the two teams:

PRE-MATCH QUOTES

Following Saturday’s defeat against Ilkeston Town, manager Michael Dunwell spoke ahead of the tie by saying:

“It’s always good when you’ve had a performance like that to get back out there quickly and put things right, we need another reaction. We said that last week [after defeat against Ashton United] and we got one [against Hednesford Town], and now we’re hoping to get one again.“
