Stockton Town head to Lincolnshire to take on Gainsborough Trinity for some Tuesday night football.

The Anchors have had an unbeaten opening to the 2025/26 campaign, but will be frustrated with their 2-2 draw against Hyde United last time out.

Summer signings Jamie Bramwell and Jake Petitjean both scored their second goals of the season to give Michael Dunwell’s side a two-goal advantage early on, but some confusing refereeing helped Hyde comeback before the break, with more heroic goalkeeping helping them keep the scores level.

Stockton were without a large number of first team players on Saturday, and will be down another man for this game, with goalkeeper Nathan Harker the latest to suffer an injury.

THE OPPOSITION

Gainsborough Trinity had a memorable 2024/25 season, reaching the second round of the FA Cup, narrowly losing 1-0 to Harrogate Town on live TV, as well as reaching the fifth round of the FA Trophy, losing to National League’s Woking after overcoming York City in the round prior.

The Holy Blues have recruited incredibly well in summer, despite losing star talisman Declan Howe to Scunthorpe, they replaced his prowess with former NPL standout Jonathon Margetts, who shined in the National League North at Kings Lynn Town last season, scoring 19 times.

They’ve also partnered him with the experience of Frank Mulhern, who enjoyed a successful spell at Scarborough Athletic most recently, following time at, Stockport County, Spennymoor Town and Farsley Celtic.

On top of a strong retained list, Russ Wilcox also showed intent with signing defender Adam Crookes, from York City, youngster Harrison Beeden from Lancaster City, and extended the registration of talent Jacob McLoughlin with York City.

Gainsborough have started the season with three points from their opening three games, beating Ilkeston Town 1-0, and losing out to Ashton United and Warrington Rylands.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The two sides met twice last season, but the Anchors failed to beat the Holy Blues on both occasions:
