Stockton Town play host to National League North outfit Scarborough Athletic as the start of the new season draws ever closer.

The Anchors got the better of Bishop Auckland on Tuesday, with a 2-0 victory on the evening.

Kev Hayes gave the Anchors an early lead, latching onto an Amar Purewal flick on to poke an effort home, before Jamie Bramwell headed a deep free-kick from Hayes into the corner to extend the advantage.

Both Bramwell and Jake Petitjean returned to action after recovering from slight knocks.

THE OPPOSITION

Scarborough are coming into the 2025/26 season off the back of a trophy winning campaign, where they won the North Riding County Cup at the Riverside Stadium, beating Middlesbrough Under-21’s in the final.

Alongside a strong retained list, the Seadogs have brought in a handful of new additions. Young forward Rio Allan was the first to commit, with Leon Gibson-Booth quickly to follow, who joined from Morpeth Town.

Most recently, American Goalkeeper Hiram Romero Jr was brought in to challenge Ryan Whitley for the number one position.

Scarborough have had a successful pre-season to date, recently beating Cleethorpes Town last time out. Jonathan Greening’s side have also beaten Ossett United, Bridlington Town, Pickering Town and Selby Town, only failing to beat Beverley Town, where star player Luca Colville helped them to a 1-1 draw.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES

Looking ahead to this pre-season test, Assistant Manager JD Briggs has said:

“These are the games we want to be playing, because it is a different challenge to those teams two or three leagues below. The standard of the players, how quick they move the ball and how long they can keep their intensity up throughout the game will be a great test for us.”
