Stockton Town U18’s Head Coach Patrick ‘Paddy’ Davis has spoken ahead of his sides exciting opportunity to retain their JPL Cup.
The youngsters head to Wigan Athletic on Saturday for a 6pm kick-off against Grantham Town, which will be their third League One they will take the pitch of over a 12-month span.
Speaking on that, Paddy states: ”It’s another fantastic opportunity for the lads to play at yet another football league ground, with having already played at Doncaster, Bradford and now Wigan.”
The defeat at Bradford City in October was the first time a Stockton Town team had made the First Round of the FA Youth Cup, and he expresses his pride of another successful season: “It’s been another season of fantastic development. A second-place league finish, another cup final and we have had Chuka [Unigwe], Michael [Smith], and Max [Naylor] within the first team set up, along with the success of Lucas Middleton earning a scholarship with Millwall.”
Seb [Waller] helped Synners to Northern League survival, Billy [Waller] winning the league with Guisborough and Jaedon [Faulkner] scoring the important equaliser for West Auckland which led to their playoff success. It shows our pathway onto men’s football is continuing to produce.”
Looking ahead to Saturday’s fixture, and the future of the Youth development, Paddy speaking positively, stating: “The current group is young and we are confident of adding to that group for next season with boys from our U16s JPL team, along with other players coming from across the North East.”
