U16’s Visit Notts Forest

Our U16’s visited Notts Forest’s Academy on Saturday 13th January to take part in a triangular Tournament featuring the hosts and Cambridge United.

With a good start to the League and two strong ongoing cup runs (League Cup Quarter fFnal) (Durham Cup Semi fFnal) Stockton Town U16s played hosts Nottingham Forest U16’s and Cambridge United U16’s in a round robin.

Against Cambridge Utd in their first game, Stockton, having conceded an early goal from a corner dominated the game to grab an equaliser to the score 1-1. Only Cambridge’s Goalkeeper and the woodwork kept the scoreline level.

In our second game and after only a ten minute turnaround, Stockton played a strong and physically developed Nottingham Forest side who’d had the benefit of rest. Although Forest had a handle on the game from the beginning Stockton found themselves 1-1 at half time. Despite endeavour, fatigue clearly played a part and Forest eventually broke down our defensive line scoring twice in quick succession in the latter stages of the game.

A good performance by Stockton Town against professional Clubs Academy sides, well done boys.
