Thompson reaches century milestone

Stephen Thompson believes Stockton Town is a ‘brilliant place to be part of’ as he recorded his 100th appearance for the club.

Thompson, who signed in Summer 2022, becomes the latest Anchor to reach the century milestone.

“It’s very good (to reach 100 appearances), I have loved my time here more than anything,” Thompson said.

“Hopefully I will get quite a few more games to go.

“I am loving it and it’s a brilliant place to be part of.”

It was great for Thompson to mark his 100th appearance with another win which extended Stockton’s winning streak to eight games.

It was a hard fought encounter as Michael Dunwell’s men edged it by the single goal from Josh Scott who continues to be in top form. St

“That was a proper game,” Thompson remarked.

“Last few weeks we have steamrolled teams but sometimes those types of games are better.

“We prefer these types of wins where we have worked hard. They’re (Matlock Town)  a good team and won’t finish where they are now.”

Stockton Town have shown their versatility and ability to win all types of games throughout their run.

The will and desire was once again in evidence in the win over Matlock Town.

“We have stepped up and have eight wins on the bounce. That’s massive for a club like Stockton. There’s some big clubs in these leagues and we have competed with them,” Thompson said.

The Anchors will look to make it nine in a row when they host Shildon in the Durham Challenge Cup on Wednesday.
