Stockton Town U18 set for FA Youth Cup tie

Stockton Town U18s return to competitive action when they travel to Consett for the FA Youth Preliminary Round on Tuesday night- 7pm Kick-Off .

The Young Anchors had a decent run in the competition last season with emphatic wins over Pickering Town and Penrith before they fell at the First Qualifying Round stage to Blyth Spartans.

Looking ahead to the tie, Manager Paddy Davis said: “Tuesday night’s game is a really tough one to start with, particularly with it being the FA Youth Cup, which the lads want to do well in.”

“Consett always have strong youth teams and Tuesday will be no different.

“That being said, we are in a really strong position ourselves and it’s a game that we are really looking forward to.

“Hopefully we can start the season on a positive note and progress to the next round.”

The game comes as a precursor to their JPL Cup campaign which begins with a home game against Harrogate Town on Saturday.

They then face Pickering Town away, 360 Development at home and North Ferriby away.

Speaking on Pre-Season overall, Davis said: “We have had a really positive Pre-Season against some good teams which puts us in a good position to start competitive games.

“The lads that have come in to join the squad have really engaged with how we want them to play and we have a talented squad again.”

The game takes place tonight at Consett’s Belle View Ground. Please stay tuned to Consett’s Social Media for entry details.
