Owen Gallacher spoke following the Anchors’ 3-2 victory at Matlock Town on Saturday.
The summer-signing made his third consecutive start in Derbyshire, impressing in the left-back position.
Owen opened by providing his delight on the three points by saying: “I thought we did really well, especially at the end. Obviously to go one behind in the first five minutes, at a place like this where they’re unbeaten in 10 games, to come from behind and keep them behind, the work rate from all the lads was class.”
After spending a lot of time on the wing for Michael Dunwell this season, the last three games have seen Gallacher slot into the left-back role where he is solidifying his spot. He follows up by touching on this: “It’s a position I’ve played frequently before and it is a position I enjoy playing. It’s great to be on the pitch as well, that’s three games of 90 minutes in the tank and since I’ve come in the lads have been great with us, and to win two of those three difficult games on the road is very good.”
Gallacher and the squad were once again backed by over 50 travelling supporters, and he credits this by exclaiming: “The fans have been unbelievable all season, it just goes to show when we’ve had three very long trips to Derbyshire this week alone and they’ve followed us all the way. They’ve been different class.
“Just looking towards the end of the season now, we’re in the playoffs, we’re more than in the push for it so if they can stick by us we can give them a good end to the season as well.”
The 25-year-old closes by looking ahead to next Saturday’s clash with relegation-threatened Basford United at the Map Group UK Stadium: “I can’t wait. We’re on good form and all season we’ve been pretty solid at home, so hopefully we can keep that up and carry on. All we can try to do is pick up another three points after another three points and see where it leaves us at the end of the season.”
