Nicholson rallies Anchors fans

Captain Adam Nicholson says the support of the fans will be ‘huge’ this week as Stockton Town face back-to-back home games.

The Anchors are at home to Whickham in the Durham Cup Quarter Final on Wednesday before a top-of-the-table clash with Hebburn Town on Saturday.

The skipper said: “The support of the fans will be huge this week. We have had a few away games recently but the last couple of home games the atmosphere has been good.

“Hopefully we will see the ground full for these next two games.”

Michael Dunwell’s men are in excellent form of late having won their last seven games. Following a perfect November they made a tremendous start to December with a 4-0 win at Grantham Town on Saturday.

The goals were shared around again as there was four different goalscorers.

Although they are tough games upcoming, they are the sort you become involved with football for.

Nicholson said: “They are two tough games but they’re best ones to play in. We can’t wait.

“We’re playing well and we’ve just got to keep doing what we have been doing over the last month or two.”

Nicholson continued: “The mood is really good at the moment. The lads are buzzing and everyone is playing well which breeds confidence.”
