Nathan Harker gave his analysis after his 18th clean sheet of the season helped the Anchors to a huge win over Worksop Town on Saturday.
The goalkeeper has now kept four clean sheets in a row in the midst of the Anchors’ four game winning streak.
Harker opened by providing his thoughts on the matchup by saying: “A brilliant result. I think the sending off for them killed them a bit and maybe just took the wind out of them, but to be honest I think we could’ve had two or three goals before that. We pushed and pushed but just couldn’t find that quality at the end of it to go 1-0 up, but we got our rewards in the end. It was a very professional performance.”
The shot-stopper followed by going through his emotions surrounding his 18th clean sheet of the season: “To be honest, I didn’t start counting until I saw it on social media a couple weeks back, but clean sheets aren’t a massive thing for me, I’m not too bothered as long as the team is winning games. Obviously it is nice to hear about personally, but as long as we keep picking up three points and get over that line at the end of the season, that’s the best thing.”
Nathan then takes time to praise the defence ahead of him and their importance in recent weeks: “They’re absolutely massive. I know I won Player of the Month last month, but I didn’t think like I had an awful lot to do, I think it’s been set up by – not just the defence – but the whole team has been defending as one, and that is what has set up up for success.”
He closed by looking ahead to next weekend’s test, where a first ever trip to Prescot Cables awaits: “We’ve got to be positive after the run we’ve been on, but at the same time, Prescot have been playing well and picked up some good results. We’ve said all season, every game in this league is difficult and if you take your eye off the ball or your foot off the gas for just one moment it’ll come back to bite you, so we’ve just got to take this momentum into each fixture and see how high we can finish.”
