Stockton welcomed Silksworth CW to Bishopton Road West in what was expected to be a close game as both sides have made good starts to the season. The game started quietly with both sides seeing long range efforts wide of the target. Stockton started to impose themselves on the game and a Max Craggs long range effort crashed back off the bar but Kallum Hannah just couldn’t squeeze it home at the back post. Silksworth were dangerous on the break through through Robinson and twice Michael Arthur in Stocktons goal had to react smartly to cut out Silksworth ‘s attacks. A defensive slip at the heart of Stockton’s defence caused some panic but Stockton quickly regrouped to cut out the danger. Chris Stockton and Carlton McCabe were both prominent and causing problems for the visitors and a Stav Roberts header ended up in the keepers arms as half time approached. The second half saw Stockton start to dominate the contest but without really troubling Silksworths goal. That was until Chris Stockton was found in the wide left channel, he cut in before curling a right foot effort into the near post to give Stockton the lead on 64 minutes. Silksworth tried to respond quickly and Stockton’s goalkeeper had to make a smart save to push away a Silkworth shot. The game was now being played almost entirely in the Silksworth half and it was no surprise when Stav Roberts doubled Stockton’s lead close to the end with a looping effort into the far corner. The 2 0 victory keeps Stockton top on goal difference. Next game is a trip to Easington CW on Wednesday evening, Easington have a identical record to Stockton having won all their league games to date this season, so something will have to give on Wednesday.
