Stockton Town recorded their first ever away win in the Northern League. With this 2-0 win at Hebburn Town.

It took Stockton just 5 minutes to break the deadlock, Matthew Garbutt found Tony Johnson with a fantastic diagonal ball, Johnson with a great first touch created time for himself before he calmly fired the ball past Steve Hubery in the Hebburn goal.

Johnson almost made it 2-0 after 31 minutes as he raced into the box only for him to see his shot saved by Hubery.

A minute later it was Garbutt’s turn to fire at Hubery who made a fine save.

The elusive second goal almost came just before the break but Hubrey made another fine save this time from Alan Cossavella.

A good first half performance from Stockton who had dominated the possession but they just couldn’t find the second goal.

Stockton continued to attack the Hebburn goal Kallum Hannah went close before the second goal arrived. Good interplay between Hannah, Woodhouse and Johnson saw the ball flash across the goal where Joe Carter calmly finished in the  69th minute.

Substitute James Ward was unlucky not to get his name on the goal scoring list when his shot from outside the box, flew past the hands of the diving Hebburn goalkeeper, but the ball hit the post and bounced clear.

Hebburn who had been quiet for most of this game suddenly sparked into life right on time, Jason Blackburn sent a curling shot into the box but Stockton goalkeeper Liam Jordan just managed to get his fingertips to the ball, that was just enough to deflect the ball onto the bar, for the only real chance Hebburn created in the whole game.

A good result to bring the 3 points home and a solid performance. Next up is Whickham FA at home on Wednesday evening, KO 7 30pm.
