Stockton Town took on this Friendly at the last minute following the postponement of our home fixture with Boldon CA.
This was a great workout for the lads taking on last seasons Northern League Champions Marske Utd. The goals flowed in this game from early on with Stockton taking the lead with an Adam Nicholson header. Marske then replied before Stav Roberts finished a great move with a fine header to make it 2 1 in 17 minutes. Shortly afterwards another Stockton move down their left saw Matty Garbutt finish at the front post for Stockton’s third. In the 10 minutes before half time Marske scored to make it 3 2 before Tony Johnson produced a smart finish to make it 4 2 after 45 minutes.
The second half saw multiple changes for both teams and with 17 minutes remaining Marske reduced the arrears once again to make it 4 3, but before the end Stockton regained their 2 goal lead when the Marske goalkeeper could only parry Matty Garbutts shot and Sonni Coleman was on hand to finish.
A fine game with some quality football played by both sides and plenty of goals for the spectators.
