MATCH REPORT

Stockton Town FC v Rushall Olympic

Stockton Town were left stunned by a clinical Rushall Olympic side.

Two early goals were successfully nullified in the first half by Stockton, but as their efforts for a third fell short, two late chances sealed all three points for the visitors.

Oliver Lloyd was the starting goalkeeper for the Anchors on the afternoon, joining on an emergency loan from Middlesbrough as Nathan Harker is expected to miss the remainder of the season with an injury.

Within 16 minutes, Rushall were ahead after Dan Chimeziri sneaked an effort past Lloyd from inside the box.

Nick Clayton-Phillips and Carter Lycett both had big chances to add a second for the Pics, but Jordaan Brown made no mistake from a corner, heading home at the back post to double their advantage.

Ollie Lloyd made his best save of the game after 31 minutes, tipping a strike over his crossbar.

With six minutes left in the half, Stockton had a lifeline through Jake Petitjean, when his free-kick caused problems in the box, eventually falling back to him to fire home.

Josh Scott got the Anchors back on terms not long after, looping a wonderful header over the goalkeeper after a great cross by Owen Gallacher.

Half-time: Stockton Town 2-2 Rushall Olympic

Stockton were the side pushing in the early phases of the second half, but were seeing plenty of opportunities denied by the relentless Olympic defence.

Kevin Hayes had a huge chance to add a third for Stockton, when a ball fell to him in space inside the box but his strike hit the crossbar.

75 minutes in, against the run of play, Rushall restored their advantage through Chimeziri who headed home another corner at the back stick.

Stockton pushed but couldn’t get close enough, and the game was sealed in the 90th minute when Chimeziri sealed his hat-trick on a fast break away.
