MATCH REPORT

Stockton Town FC v Liversedge FC

Stockton Town had to settle for a point as they were held to a goalless draw by Liversedge.

Dale Mulligan replaced the suspended Adam Nicholson and Cam Painter deputised for the injured Dan McWilliams.

Liversedge almost opened the scoring from the kick-off when Joe Walton was played in but he lofted his effort over.

Walton was again picked out but he could only direct his header into the hands of Roberts.

Sedge did have the ball in net but Eddie Church was adjudged to be offside when he converted.

The Anchors were limited to opportunities from outside the box. First Hayes sent one narrowly wide, then Stephen Thompson tested the reflexes of the Liversedge custodian.

Liversedge thought they had a case for penalty when Church jinked towards the goal and was challenged by Dale Mulligan. The referee gave it the other way as Stockton were awarded a freekick.

The biggest chance for Stockton came at the end of the half when Fowler was in played but Porter was on hand to deny him.

Stockton Town began the second half on the front foot.

Dale Mulligan went close when drilled the ball over following Stockton pressure.

Kevy Tarangadzo put his body on the line twice as he kept two Stockton efforts.

Another opening came when Butterworth found himself in the box but Porter was there to deny him.

Stockton had a number of corners throughout the second half. Tom Coulthard came closest to scoring one when he headed just wide.

In the end Liversedge held on for a point and Stockton were left frustrated they could not further extend their lead at the summit.
