MATCH REPORT

Grantham Town v Stockton Town FC

Stockton Town produced a ruthless performance as they heaped more misery on Grantham Town.

Kev Hayes gave Stockton a first half lead from the penalty spot before goals from Glen Butterworth, Michael Fowler and Mikey Roberts sealed a comfortable win.

The first half was a frustrating affair as neither team could gain a foothold in the game.

A couple of half chances fell for both teams. First Shane Henry tried an off-balanced shot that was gathered by Curtis Hall.

Grantham then a had chance from a corner but Callum Roberts was equal to it.

Stockton had the lead when Mikey Roberts was awarded a penalty after he was cynically hacked down. Hayes stepped up and confidently converted.

A huge chance came for Stockton to double their lead when Butterworth’s cross was narrowly put wide at the back post by Nicholson. He put his head in his hands which demonstrated what a big chance he thought it was.

Half Time: Grantham Town 0-1 Stockton Town

Early in the second half Stockton had their second when Stephen Thompson produced an excellent cross which was emphatically headed home by Butterworth.

A third followed in the 68th minute when Fowler was played in behind. He kept his composure to rocket a shot beyond Hall.

Three quickly became four when M.Roberts was played in and he calmy slotted in.

Michael Sweet returned to action and he almost had the fifth but Hall was just about equal to it.

That proved to be the final piece of action on another solid outing from the Anchors.

Full-Time: Grantham Town 0-4 Stockton Town

Stockton now face a huge week with two home games. First up is the Durham Challenge Cup Quarter Final against Whickham followed by a top-of-the-table clash against Hebburn Town.
