It was Monkwearmouth Cup action at Bishopton Road West as Ashbrooke Belford House arrived for this Round 1 tie. Stockton were soon on the front foot on a very windy afternoon and on 20minutes centre half Adam Nicholson converted a corner with a fine header. Captain Stav Roberts doubled Stockton’s lead only 5 minutes later and Tony Johnson followed up with Stockton’s third on 28 minutes. Three goals in 8 minutes effectively finished the tie by the 28th minute as Ashbrooke saw no way back for themselves.
The goal of the game arrived in the second half when Matty Garbutt got on the score sheet. Travelling across the pitch 20 yards out, Matty unleashed an unstoppable drive into the far corner of the net.
