Chris Stockton set up Stocktons victory with the first of 2 goals in our win over Whitehaven.
Whitehaven arrived at Bishopton Road West for their first ever visit to Stockton Town following their relegation from the Northern League 2nd Division last Season. A close game was expected as Whitehaven are a lot of peoples tips to be challenging for the Wearside League Title this Season. The early exchanges promised a close game Tony Johnson bringing a superb save from the Whitehaven goalkeeper within 30 seconds of the kick off and Whitehaven’s centre forward Connelly stretching Stockton’s defence on a number of occasions. However it wasn’t to be the case as Stockton soon started to dominate and within 30 minutes had raced into a 3 goal lead with Chris Stockton cutting in from the left to finish across the keeper into the far corner for the first, Kallum Hannah netting the 2nd and Tony Johnson the 3rd. With Stockton kicking into the strong wind in the second half could Whitehaven force their way back into the game, but Stockton continued to dominate. Davy Dowd got the 4th from a wide angle on the right and Chris Stockton smashed an unstoppable drive past Whitehaven keeper Studholme for the fifth. A great performance from Stockton that maintains there position at the top of the Wearside League.
