Fenton John joins on loan from Gateshead

Stockton Town are delighted to announce the loan signing of midfielder Fenton John from Gateshead until the end of the season.

Stockton-born John started his career at Middlesbrough before joining Gateshead in the summer.

He has previous NPL experience following two loan spells at Morpeth Town where he made 30 appearances.

“I am buzzing to  get some games and push for promotion,” John said on joining.

“I am an attack-minded player. I like to get on the ball. Hopefully I can score and assist a few in the rest of the season,” John added.

Speaking on the signing, Michael Dunwell said: “It’s a good signing and it’ll freshen up the squad up a bit after the last couple of weeks.

“We tried to get him at the start of the season but he ended up going to Morpeth. When he went back to Gateshead we kept an eye on it. Once he became available we contacted Gateshead and met Fenton who was happy to join us until the end of the season.

“He can play as an eight, as a ten and out wide. He can take it on the turn and likes running at defences. He will add competition for places in that part of the team,” Dunwell added.

John is in the squad for tonight’s trip to Ilkeston Town.
