Anchoresses face tough test on the road

It’s second versus third in the Durham FA Women’s League when the Anchoresses make the trip to Boldon on Sunday- 2pm Kick-Off.

Stockton have been out of action since November 3rd when they won 3-2 at Gateshead Leam Rangers. It was an excellent response following a 2-1 defeat at Hebburn Town the previous Sunday.

Boldon have made the perfect start to this season with four wins from four. Last time out they secured a 1-0 win at Newton Aycliffe.

Looking ahead to the test ahead, Anchoressses’ Manager Chris Murphy said: “Boldon have had a great start to the league season and are one of only two sides unbeaten in the league, so this will be a tough game against a young team which likes to play attacking football.

“We had two great games against Boldon last season, and I am sure Sunday will be no different.”

Changes will need to be made on Sunday with a number of players out injured. Cerys Kingston, Lauren Downing and Milly McNamee are all out. Hannah Verrall is also out due to suspension.

There will be opportunities for young players. Lily-Ann Thwaite has been welcomed into the squad after turning 16. Fern Shelton and Grace Davey will be in the squad for the first time this season.
