Stockton Town Ladies exited the Abode Women’s FA Cup this afternoon with defeat to Sunderland West End in the Second Qualifying Round.
The Anchoresses, who progressed with a 2-0 victory over Redcar Town in the last, were up against a West End team from the North East Women’s Regional League Premier- a side from two leagues above.
That gap did proved to be decisive as Sunderland West End ran out 6-0 winners. Ally Ferris and Isla Maggis book scored a brace, and the other goals came from Jess Ellison and Emily Howe.
Commenting on the end of their FA Cup run, Manager Chris Murphy said: “We went in the game knowing were up against a very good side who are two leagues above, we wanted give the opposition a good game with a young squad against an experienced side and I feel that we did.
“When we worked the ball into the final third we created some good chances however the West End goalkeeper was in fantastic form.”
Stockton Town Ladies focus their attention back to the league next Sunday when they make the journey to take on Hartlepool Pools Youth FC.
