Match-winner Michael Sweet provided his reaction following the Anchors’ dramatic win at Lancaster City.
Sweet flicked on a long-ranged effort by Lewis King in the 96th minute to secure three points on the road, and he describes his ninth goal of the season by saying: “Kingy’s had a go, and I’ve not known much about it to be fair, it’s took a hit off the inside of my boot and I like to think that little touch was what helped it in. Luckily I was onside as well.
He then reflects on the teams performance, and the result as a whole after a two-week break: “It’s a huge win after a gritty game. It’s really important, and now we need to take this flow into next week.
“It was a difficult game, it was heavy and got a lot worse really quickly and were awkward conditions to come on too, but it’s just one of those games we’ve all had in our careers and it fell our way which makes it a lot nicer.
“I am buzzing to pick up all three points. It’s always good to win away, and it’s always great to have a good, lively bus journey back.”
‘Sweety’ then takes the time to credit the Anchors’ supporters, who travelled in good numbers to support their side in Lancashire: “They came in their numbers today and made a big difference, especially behind that goal towards the end.
“They were vocal and made us want to win it that extra bit more.”
Stockton fans will need to be at their best next weekend, when 2nd placed Warrington Rylands come to visit Teesside, which Michael looks ahead to by saying: “It’s a massively important game. We have a good chance to take today’s performance into that and give it everything we’ve got.
“We’ve got to start positive like we did today, and in the first half as a whole we were brilliant. Kingy [Lewis King] was excellent today I thought as well, 0ne of the best games I’ve seen him play, it’s been good to have him back in that midfield, but everyone did really well and we need to go and do the same against Rylands.
“The late winner lifts us more than a normal win, it’s a class vibe in the changing room, all positive and the momentum is there.”
