Manager Michael Dunwell and Assistant Manager JD Briggs have spoken after they penned new three year deals to remain with the Anchors.
Michael opened by stating: “I’m really pleased to have signed an extension to my contract. It was an easy and quick decision. The club has progressed so quickly in recent years, and I want to help to continue with that and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
The gaffer then follows by crediting everybody involved in the club’s recent surge: “I think we knew the potential of the club, but the rise and how quickly it has happened has been phenomenal and it’s down to all the hard work that goes on both on and off the field, from players, management, committee, volunteers and all the hours that go unseen to make this happen.
“The coaching staff I have around me are just as important… you need to have people you can trust. We are all friends away from football and I think that helps with how well we work together through the training sessions and games. There’s a lot of planning, watching games, players etc. They have played a huge part in the success of the club and I look forward to continuing that with them all.”
Dunwell then closes by looking ahead to what is next within these three years, starting with next season: “We are all looking to forward to the next three years, and next season in particular. We are hurting from what happened at the end of the season and want to go and put that right next season. We can’t wait for it to start and I know the players and everyone connected to the club feels the same.”
Assistant Manager JD Briggs also shared his delight on the extension: “I’m really happy to agree a contract extension for the next three years. This allows us to plan this next season as well as the seasons after, and to be included in the current short term plans and goals of the club.”
Briggs finishes by looking ahead to the upcoming seasons: “I would say this upcoming season is right up there with the most I’ve ever been motivated for a campaign. That comes from our success this past season and the way it ending. The players were brilliant and embraced every part of it. With the new signings we have made to try to improve our squad, I’m really excited to get going and get the boys ready to go!”
