Hartlepool came to stop Stockton from using the passing game, this restricted both sides from creating chances the best of them fell to Stockton Town Captain Stephen Roberts, whose looping shot only succeeded in hitting the crossbar after 18 minutes.

Kallum Hannah created another chance to open the scoring after 28 minutes, as he jinxed into the box, his shot beat the Hartlepool keeper Shaun Scotter but the ball hit the post and bounced clear.

After 42 minutes it was the Stockton keeper that was called into action, young Liam Jordan pulling off the save of the game, Samuel Cook’s shot was going into the top corner until Jordan got a hand to the ball and turn it over the bar to keep the score 0-0 at half time.

The deadlock was finally broken after 67 minutes in a crowded penalty area, Sonni Coleman’s shot hit defender Luke Naylor and bounced back to Coleman to fire into the net, to record Stockton’s 13th double of the season.
