Match Report

Leven “A” visited Stockton Town and probably left a little surprised and maybe even relieved to go away with all 3 points. The blues continue to get stronger and it was arguably our best team performance to date. Leven are a top div 1 team and play some lovely football, we expected Harrison’s goal to be the busier of the two (or “peppered” as one of our supporters quoted) but in fairness it was even. I might even say we created / had more chances! The lads worked so hard, the front two (including Isaac who replaced Harvey late on) never stopped running, relentlessly closing down the opposition and the back two made several big game tackles. The game was level for quite a while before Leven scored two quick goals in succession. Possibly goals that could have been avoided with a bit more concentration 0-2. The blues fought back, Smith fired in a long range freekick which was parried by the keeper, Waldon hit the re-bound on the half volley from close range but the shot was blocked by a defender, the ball bounced around the box before Lonsdale reacted quickest and finished superbly to make it 1-2. At this point it was anybody’s game and it was end to end action right until the final minutes when a great leven team goal killed off the game, 1-3 at the finish. The ref and opposition manager were full of praise for the blues after the game and it really shows how much improvement has occurred this season.
Man of the match was Jacob Waldon who had a fine game and made some big last gasp tackles.

4 Jacob Waldon
