Chairmans Club Update

Firstly on behalf of everyone at the Club we hope you and your families are well and please continue to observe the social distancing guidelines, which will help us all get back to our Football Club as quickly as possible.

Yesterday The FA Council ratified a decision taken by some FA Committee’s to null and void Season 2019/2020 and expunge all results. This is clearly not a decision we agreed with for many many reasons that are well documented and in the public domain. I do not intend to dwell on this subject at the moment  but will continue in the background to try and affect change.

I thought now was an appropriate time to update everyone on the Clubs position, assure you that the Club will survive this situation and thank you for your continued support at what is a very difficult time for us all.

I would like to place on record my thanks firstly to our players and management for their simply outstanding efforts during the course of last season. As a Club we may not of received the recognition our efforts deserved but that should not stop us celebrating and acknowledging those at an appropriate time in the future. As we are all aware our players are not alone on the pitch. Our supporters in terms of numbers, humour and support are quite unbelievable and a huge credit to the Club, on behalf of everyone, can I thank you all and ask that you stay with us in the future. We are also blessed with an incredible voluntary team that work tirelessly to support all aspects of the Club and the Club would not be what it is today without you, thank you.

There is another group of supporters that are invaluable to us, our sponsors. If I could place on record my thanks to you all who have been tremendous supporters of the Club over the last few years, there are far to many to mention individually, but you know who you are, thank you.

I know all the people and groups I have mentioned above have been affected by the decisions taken by The FA, however we have no choice as a Club but to pull together and try and take the positives out of this situation and ensure we are in a position to prosper as individuals and as a Club as we move forward. There is one certainty, if we don’t we’ll be left behind.

Over the last few weeks there has been a concerted effort across the Club to ensure we are in a stable situation during these uncertain times. Literally every revenue stream we had built up over the last twenty years was turned off overnight and this coupled with a large employee base has led to some challenges that we never anticipated, but with the help and understanding of all I’m confident that we will look ahead to the future with confidence once we are in a position to play football again.

It is at times of adversity when a community can come together, that huge disappointments can be overcome and this Club has a record of doing exactly that and we will do it again. This will only be achieved however by the efforts of us all with a clear focus on what we wish to achieve and our aims and ambitions are not only undiminished but stronger than ever.

We will in the coming days and weeks communicate further but in the meantime we would be really grateful for your continued support as we plan out our future.

Look out for Season Card renewal and applications information which will be advertised shortly and can be completed on-line through the Website/Club Shop and of course our Replica Kits and Leisurewear can all be ordered on-line now through the Club Shop.

Hopefully we will see everyone soon and get back to enjoying our Football Club and the community that has been built around it.
