Stockton Town vs Crook Town Preview

STOCKTON TOWN are looking to make it ten of the best when they face a potential banana skin at home to bottom three side Crook Town on Saturday.

The past week has been one to remember for the Anchors. They began it by gaining a crucial win in the race for promotion away to local rivals Billingham Synthonia. They followed that by running riot at promotion rivals Team Northumbria on Monday night, a 4-1 triumph in the Earnest Armstrong Memorial Cup.

The 1-0 win at Synthonia on Saturday gave Stockton a good advantage over Synners with the gap between the two clubs now standing at eight points. The Anchors will be looking to, at worst, maintain that advantage with a positive result on Saturday.

Victory at the CLS Sports Stadium brought Stockton their ninth consecutive league victory and they will be looking to ensure they avoid slipping up against one of the division’s bottom three, who have been in free fall of late.

Stockton manager Michael Dunwell isn’t taking the opposition lightly. He explained: “We’re looking forward to the game and go into it full of confidence after nine straight league wins and two great results this week.

“Crook are a bit of an unknown entity at the minute with no manager in place but we will respect them like we do every team and hopefully we’ll get the win we are looking for.”

Another victory would be Stockton’s tenth in a row and would come against a side who have lost their last ten league outings and who shipped ten goals in a recent clash with Billingham Synthonia. Crook’s form has been short of what they’d be hoping for this campaign and having conceded 41 goals in their last ten games, they’ll be challenged to keep out a Stockton side that have averaged over three and a half goals per game across the nine game winning run in the league.

Stockton Town vs Crook Town kicks off at 3pm on Saturday 14th January. Tickets are £5 adults, £3 OAPs and £1 children.
