Stockton Capture Midfield Target

The Club is delighted to announce that midfielder Tom Portas has agreed to join Stockton Town from West Auckland Town. Tom is a Stockton lad and played junior football for the Club before moving on to play Northern League football for Guisborough Town at 16 and then progressing to Whitby Town. Tom then spent 4 seasons at Darlington FC and was an integral part of their rise through the leagues to the National League North, winning 3 Player of the Year Awards along the way.

Tom had been identified as a potential signing by Manager Michael Dunwell and after capturing Tom’s signature Michael said, “this is a key signing for us this summer, Tom will bring experience and professionalism to the team and I believe his drive and determination will help move the team and squad on this summer”.

After signing Tom expressed his delight at joining and said, “I already know most of the players within the squad and once I’d spoken with the Club and understood their continued ambition I knew that this is where I wanted to be playing football.”

Tom will join up with the squad in late June when the squad returns to training.
