Over 500 spectators crammed into Bishopton Road West to watch this FA Vase 3rd Round tie. The ‘Purps’ fans created an amazing atmosphere which although partisan made it a special day for both sets of players. There wasn’t much to choose between the teams on the pitch and a 20th Minute Fred WOODHOUSE goal was enough to take the Anchors through to the last 32 for the first time in their history. Stockton had the better of the first half and had 3 or 4 good opportunities, CoL keeper McCall making 2 excellent saves to keep the score down. Second half saw CoL change their style a little and get plenty of possession however they couldn’t quite create enough and Stockton who were excellent right across the whole defence, held firm, led by the outstanding Tom Coulthard who nullified the dangerous CoL striker Nevitt. Onwards and upwards, another brilliant day for the Club, another set of friends made in Liverpool and we’re in the hat on Monday (next round is Jan 6th) for another exciting day hopefully. UTA
