STOCKTON TOWN FC YEAR 3 & 4 MINI LEAGUE 2009/2010
AUTUMN TERM

Stockton Town FC were glad to welcome back local Stockton Primary Schools for 2009/2010's second Years 3 & 4 Mini League.

The competition was held at the club's new headquarters for the leagues first round of fixtures.

The mini league takes place each term when local schools make the short journey to Stockton Town FC Headquarters for an afternoon of action packed fun, pitting themselves against other local schools from the Stockton Area.

Last seasons Champions St Patricks of Fairfield were back to defend their trophy along with ten other local primary schools which included newcomers William Cassidy, Hartburn Primary, Holy Trinity and Oaktree who were all playing in the league for the first time.

The first round of matches opened with League holders St Patricks playing local rivals Fairfield in a match that was played in a competitive but friendly spirit. The game was played at a high tempo with both teams looking to take the game to each other. However, it was St Patricks who made better use of their chances to win the game 3-0, showing that they won’t give up the title easily.

Fairfield Primary were involved in another great game in Game 4 against Whitehouse Primary School. The game ended 2-2 with both teams’ keepers in great form making countless saves as the game swung from end to end with both teams desperate for the win.

Also in Game 4 the first upset of the league occurred with newcomers Holy Trinity producing a close fought 2-0 victory over holders St Patricks. The football that was played by both teams was a joy to watch with the ball remaining on the ground and some great passing movements from both teams.

The last game of the day was between Mill Lane and Bowesfield. The game was played in great spirit much like the other the matches throughout the day, with Mill Lane battling all the way to the end and scoring their first goal of the afternoon before going down 4-1 to their near neighbours.

Overall the day was a great success once again, with all the matches played in the correct manner. All the children had fantastic attitudes throughout the afternoon making it a joy for all the spectators who turned up to watch.
