Mulligan penalty gives Anchors 3 points

A Nathan Mulligan penalty just before half time was all the Anchors had to show after starting both halves of this match well and creating plenty of openings.

They probably should have won this more comfortably but at the end were defending deep to keep the scoreline at 1-0 as the visitors pushed for an equaliser. Skipper Adam Nicholson went the closest with three headed efforts, one did find the net but was disallowed inexplicably by the ref on the hour for something even the Whitley Bay defence didnt appeal for, unfortunately the VAR machine was being serviced.

Disallowed Goal …….

Close……!

But the Anchors back 3 stood firm and dealt with most thrown at them, Michael Arthur handling anything that got through. A fine crowd of over 300 enjoyed a good quality Northern League Match and 3 points bagged against a decent outfit.
