Stockton Town U7 Yellows hosted Mount Pleasant Rangers today. The game started in foggy and slippery conditions which made controlling the ball very difficult. The first half saw chances for both teams come and go with both defences and goalkeepers doing more than their fair share to stop any goals being scored.
Into the 2nd half and Mount Pleasant pressed for a goal but Ollie returning in goal after a break and strong defending kept them at bay. The breakthrough came when a ball from defence split the Rangers back line and the Stockton front lads showed excellent persistence to force home the ball. Once in front Stockton relaxed and started to play football but Rangers still created plenty of chances and were unlucky not to equalise themselves.
Another ball played from the back from the Stockton defence again made defending difficult and after a few missed chances to clear Stockton scored the crucial 2nd. Mount Pleasant continued to press and nearly scored again but stout defending again kept them out. Backs to the wall stuff at times made it a very entertaining game for the watching parents and friends, a close call but a BIG WELL DONE KIDS from Darren and Lee – you stood up tall today to win 2-0. The last word is for Mount Pleasant Rangers – well done kids you played your part in excellent advert for U7 football.
