Stockton travelled to Bishop Auckland today for their first game of 2015 and their first for 4 weeks.
After a few different stops we got there, (blame the sat nav) and a quick warm up saw STFC ready to go.
The weather was cold, miserable, wet and everything else so the start was slow but Stockton soon got into their stride and scored an early goal. The cold was biting into all the kids but they still tried to play the right way. Bishop Auckland scored a deserved goal from some excellent possession and were very much in the game. Substitutes were made frequently and it didn’t stop Stockton’s free flowing football; they soon got back into their stride and goals were scored with some fantastic team work starting at the back and playing a slick passing style to create numerous opportunities for the fast attackers. With the rain lashing down and a vicious cold wind hitting the kids they continued to play and ended up winning the game 10-1.
The game was not all one way traffic and it shows the tremendous character of the kids. It proves, boys, that it doesn’t have to be a carpet for you to play football and sticking to what you know and practice makes this win more pleasing.
A BIG WELL DONE from Daz and Lee to all the parents who attended, the referee (who was excellent) and the kids themselves .
Result: Bishop Auckland 1 – Stockton Town Yellows 10.
