Stockton Town Football Club Under 10’s to support Rainbow Trust

Semi-professional football club Stockton Town FC will be raising awareness of Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity for the next two seasons by sporting the charity’s logo on the junior squad kit. Rainbow Trust enables families who have a child with a life threatening illness to make the most of their time together. It has eight Care Teams of Family Support Workers across England, including the North East covering Cleveland, Co. Durham, Northumberland, Redcar, Teesside and Tyne & Wear helping them at home, in hospital and in the community, for as long as it is needed. The club, now in its 40th year, is based in Stockton on Tees and was promoted to the Northern League Division One in the 2016/17 season. The junior squad is made up of 11 boys and is coached by Michael Watson & Gareth Lister. John Connor, team secretary said: “The Stockton Town FC senior team has a strong following with matches regularly drawing crowds of around 300. It has a great track record of bringing on junior players who go on to join the senior team or even professional clubs including Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Sunderland, amongst others. We are delighted to support Rainbow Trust by sporting the charity’s logo on our junior squad kit this season. It carries out such valuable work supporting families in the North East and across England who have a child with a serious illness. Ours is a small gesture to show how much we appreciate what they do. I’d also like to thank the Tees Valley Community Foundation for helping us with the funding to purchase our kits and other vital equipment.’ Oonagh Goodman, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Rainbow Trust, said: “We are very grateful that Stockton Town FC has decided to use Rainbow Trust’s logo this season. The exposure from having our logo seen by the teams’s supporters each week will definitely lead to greater awareness and ultimately more funds being raised. All money raised helps Rainbow Trust to support families to help them make the most of the precious time they have together.” Rainbow Trust is a national charity providing expert practical and emotional support to families, where they need it, to help them make the most of each new day. It relies almost entirely on voluntary donations and thanks to the generosity of its supporters helps over 2,500 families through its nine care teams in England.
