Anchors win again after amazing comeback

Stockton Town showed they’re not just in this division to make up the numbers showing great desire to stage a terrific comeback in a ‘game of two halves’  against top 4 side Consett. A very strong wind played its part in keeping the ball mainly in one half of the pitch and Consett exploited the possession by scoring twice inside 20 mins through Michael MACKAY and Calvin SMITH with a 25 yard rocket. Based on previous encounters Consett would expect a reaction from the Anchors and they got one. Stockton scored 3 goals in 5 second half minutes, Kev HAYES again showing what an important player he is cutting inside past 3 men and rifling a 30 yard shot home on 55mins, Sonni COLEMAN turning well in the box and firing in from 16 yards on 58 and Chris STOCKTON racing past the defence onto a loose ball on 60 and shooting across the keeper to make it 3-2 . Stockton’s defence saw it out once again and the Managers day got even better after he managed to get Skipper Adam Nicholson onto the pitch for the first time after 7 months out with a knee injury. The two sides have now played each other 3 times this season and produced 19 goals and although Consett will be disappointed in the results the fans of both sides surely enjoy the entertainment. Long may it continue.
